YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Softball team (26-17, 8-8) was swept in an ACCAC doubleheader by Eastern Arizona College, falling 10-7 and 7-6 on Friday afternoon at Charlie Dine Field.
In the opener, Analy Trejo provided an offensive spark, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
The game began as a high-scoring affair with the Matadors grabbing an early 3-2 lead after one inning. Eastern Arizona answered with a four-run second inning to take a lead it would not relinquish. Despite scoring in three of the final four innings, including a two-run sixth, Arizona Western could not overcome the deficit as the pitching staff allowed 10 runs on 12 hits.

Gallegos was the offensive standout in game two, finishing 3-for-4 with two triples, a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs.
The Matadors faced a 7-1 deficit heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before mounting a resilient comeback. They scored two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and another in the seventh to cut the lead to one. The late rally showcased the team's fight, but it ultimately fell just short.
Nevaeh Tapia added to the offensive output with a 2-for-3 performance that included a home run, a double and two RBIs. In the circle, Sophie Campbell delivered two scoreless innings of relief, helping to keep the Matadors within striking distance.
