YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Softball team (15-10, 1-5) dropped a pair of ACCAC games to College of Southern Nevada (14-9, 10-0) on Friday afternoon, losing game one 4-3 before falling in game two 5-3.

Rauni Gallegos had a pair of hits in the 4-3 loss in game one, going 2-for-4 with a run scored as the Matadors suffered their fourth straight conference loss.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning and continued that trend in the third, as the Matadors answered with a run of their own to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning on a Krisilyn Corral RBI ground out.

After the Coyotes grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning, the Matadors responded by tying the game in the sixth inning on a Hannah Love run-scoring single.

Southern Nevada took the lead for good with a run in the top of the seventh inning to take the opening game.

Autumn Arriola also had two hits, going 2-for-3, while Alissa Pinon singled and walked in the loss.

Southern Nevada scored three of its five runs in the third inning in game two as the Matadors couldn't recover, losing 5-3.

Corral had four hits in the loss, going 4-for-4 with a double and triple, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.

The Matadors got to within a run on an RBI single from Alissa Pinon in the fifth inning but didn't get any closer, dropping game two by two runs.

The Matadors and Coyotes wrap up the four-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 15, beginning at 11:00 am at Charlie Dine Softball Field.
