Corral and Love earn ACCAC DI Softball Player of the Week honors

YUMA, Ariz. - Arizona Western Matadors Softball players Krisilyn Corral and Hannah Love earned ACCAC weekly honors after leading the Matadors to six wins over the weekend, extending the team's winning streak to a season-best 10 games.

Freshman Krisilyn Corral was named the ACCAC DI Softball Pitcher of the Week, earning a pair of wins in the circle for the Matadors this weekend, tossing 11.1 innings in a pair of starts, allowing four runs and striking out 12 batters to help the Matadors to wins over Luna Community College and Utah State Eastern.

Corral threw five shutout innings allowed just one hit and struck out eight batters on Thursday, guiding the Matadors to an 8-0 win over the Roughriders to open the six-game weekend before allowing four earned runs in 6.1 innings and striking out four batters in the weekend finale, a 9-5 win over the Golden Eagles.

Sophomore catcher Hannah Love went 7-for-11 at the plate in four of the six games last weekend, batting .636 in four Matadors' wins. Love belted a pair of home runs and drove in six of the Matadors' 52 runs scored over the weekend.

Love went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in, in the opening game of the homestand before smashing a home run in back-to-back games against Utah State Eastern, doing so in the finale of the doubleheader on Friday and the opener of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Corral and Love become the second and third Matadors to earn ACCAC DI Softball Player of the Week honors after Lea Frechette earned Player of the Week last week.
