Softball finishes Great Western Shootout with 4-0 loss to North Idaho

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Softball team (2-5) wrapped up play at the Chapman Automotive Great Western Shootout with a 4-0 loss to North Idaho on Saturday afternoon at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.

Jayleen Espinoza went 2-for-4 while Hannah Love collected the lone extra-base hit for the Matadors with a double, finishing the game 1-for-2.

North Idaho took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added two more in the fourth before scoring their final run of the game in the sixth inning.

The Matadors were held to six hits in the loss and committed the game's only error.

Analy Trejo made the start for the Matadors and went 3.1 innings allowing two earned runs. Lili Vigil German tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

The Matadors head on the road in El Paso, Texas on Saturday, February 8, taking on El Paso Community College in a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
