One Final Poll

YUMA, Ariz. – For the final soccer poll, the Arizona Western College women’s soccer team ranked fourth in today’s NJCAA rankings. The ranking comes after AWC was selected as the fourth-seed for the NJCAA National Tournament yesterday.

The Lady Mats (21-1) are headed to Foley, Alabama this weekend. This is the first time in team history that the team has qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament amidst a season full of firsts.

First-year head coach Nicole Acosta was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year after leading the team to its first ACCAC title. The team won a record 21 matches in a row this season before falling in the Region I title match. Forward Christiana Boateng was named the ACCAC Player of the Year, and five players made All-ACCAC teams.

Now, the Lady Mats will play Eastern Florida State (ranked seventh, seeded fifth) and Laramie County (ranked 15th, seeded ninth) next week. The winner of their pool will advance to the NJCAA Semifinals.
