Early Goal Sets AWC Back in Loss to Scottsdale
|Scottsdale Community College||2|
|Arizona Western College||1|
YUMA, Ariz---A corner kick in the opening minute trickled through the box before being tapped into net and set the Arizona Western Matadors (3-4 overall, 2-3 ACCAC) back in a 2-1 loss to the Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes (3-2 overall, 3-2 ACCAC) Saturday night at the Matador Soccer Field.
The Matadors had to play in comeback mode for the second time in 72 hours after the opening goal from Tori Woodward and never could muster the same magic they had in Thursday's comeback.
Scottsdale scored a second goal just a few minutes into the second half placing AWC in the same position as two days prior.
Diana Sanchez scored her third straight goal for AWC, just six minutes after Scottsdale's second.
But AWC missed high and wide on a few late chances, ceding the home game to the visitors.
Arizona Western will play its final home game of the year on Thursday, hosting Pima at 6:00pm on the Matador Soccer Field.
