YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 16 ranked Arizona Western Matadors women’s soccer team (4-0) won their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday evening, beating GateWay (0-4) 8-0 at Eagles Park in Mesa, Ariz.

The Lady Matadors wasted little time opening the scoring, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the third minute when Jaeda Centeno picked up from where she left off on Saturday, scoring a goal off a pass from Wendy Jimenez.

Mia Grgicevich added to the lead just nine minutes later, scoring a goal to make it a 2-0 advantage before Centeno scored her second of the game in the 23rd minute.

Centeno completed the first-half hat trick four minutes later on a pass from Victoria Clark to put the Lady Matadors in front 4-0. Cianna Thomas scored a goal five minutes before the half as the Lady Matadors took a 5-0 lead into the break.

Abigail Nkrumah, Lirios Rizo, and Valentina Dagher-Romero each scored in the second half as the Lady Matadors came away with the 8-0 win.

The Lady Matadors return home on Saturday, September 17, when they host Glendale at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens. Students and Arizona Western faculty get in free with AWC ID.
