Lady Matadors Drop Home Opener to Phoenix

YUMA, Ariz---Another shorthanded effort came up short as the Arizona Western Matadors (1-2 overall, 0-1 ACCAC) lost to a tough Phoenix College Bears (3-0 overall, 3-0 ACCAC) Saturday night on the Matador Soccer Field.

Phoenix struck for a pair of goals twenty minutes in, just two minutes apart, staking the 2-0 lead.

The physical contest saw six total yellow cards, four of which were against the Matadors.

WSOC: #20 Lady Mats Stalled by #5 Snow

HENDERSON, Nev--A short-handed and resilient #20 Arizona Western Lady Matador (1-1 overall) squad fell in the final game of their Nevada trip, dropping a 2-0 contest to the #5 Snow College Badgers Friday night.

Halleyson Kap's deep strike from 30 yards out gave Snow the advantage and a late goal provided the insurance.

Papadopoulos Delivers Difference as Mats Shutout CSN

HENDERSON, Nev--Aided by Stacey Papadopoulos' strike in the 18th minute and Tia Kelk's clean sheet, the #20 Arizona Western Lady Matadors (1-0 overall) grabbed a season opening victory over the Southern Nevada Coyotes (0-1 overall) Thursday afternoon.

Linda Obare lofted a ball forward that Papadopoulos was able net just about a third of the way through the first half to give the Matadors the advantage.

Spring '21 Schedules

The ACCAC has approved a proposed schedule for the spring soccer season consisting of ten conference dates.

All Matador home games will be streamed on the Matador Athletics Facebook Page. Details about the possibility of fan attendance and protocols will be announced at a later date.

Lady Matador Soccer 2019 Season Highlights

Establishing itself as one of the top NJCAA programs out west, the Lady Matador Soccer team impressed many with its third straight appearance in the Region I Final.

A mostly new roster flanked just two returners from a historic squad, as Vera Asare and Elizabeth Ephraim etched their names into the Matador record books.
