WBB: Poor Shooting Sinks Mats against USUE

BOX SCORE

RICHFIELD, Utah---A poor shooting day bogged down the Arizona Western Lady Matadors (0-2) in a 64-47 loss to the Utah State University Eastern Saturday, concluding the two-game trip to Utah.

The slow start produced just nine points in the first quarter, and a nine point deficit, as the AWC starters combined to shoot 0-7 from three for the game.

Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles were led by Sharne Pupuke-Robati's perfect 5-5 day from the field, finishing with a team high 10 points.

Hanah Sims led all scorers off of the bench with 12 points for the Matadors. Sims hit 2 of AWC's 3 three-pointers. The Matadors attempted 13 on the game. Arizona Western made just thirteen field goals in the loss with over half the offense coming in the second half.

The Lady Matadors will open at home on Friday with the Desert Classic. Games start at 1:30pm with Chandler-Gilbert playing Colorado Northwestern on the women's side. The Lady Matadors will play Owens (OH) at 5:30pm on Friday night at The House.
