CYPRESS, Calif. – Faith Silva hit six of the Arizona Western Lady Matador’s (6-6 overall, 1-3 ACCAC) 12 three’s spurring an 85-42 victory over the Citrus College Owls Sunday afternoon at the Cypress Tournament in Orange County.
The Lady Matadors returned to their quick tempo while finding more efficiency as well. Holding the edge in every facet of the game, it was the three-point shooting that was spurred by Silva’s 18 points.
Silva matched her season and career high with the six three’s but it was her efficiency, all seven of her field goal attempts were three’s and she only missed one, that stood out for AWC.
Hanah Sims scored all nine of her points from the outside as well, bolstering the best Matador field goal percentage in two weeks.
Arianna Pagan and Harria Mendoza did most of their damage on the inside, each scoring 13 points.
Meriem Saadaoui rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points for the Matadors.
The win gets AWC back to .500 on the season before a return to conference play Monday night in Tucson against Pima. The game will be livestreamed via Pima Community College Athletics.
Arizona Western College is one of the top community colleges in Arizona. The college boasts partnerships with all three state universities that include face-to-face classes in Yuma.
