Matadors open Bruce Fleck Classic with 75-55 win over Spartans

TUCSON, AZ – The Arizona Western (12-1) Lady Matadors opened the Bruce Fleck Classic with a 75-55 win over Colorado Northwestern (6-9) on Thursday afternoon at Pima Community College.
The Matadors had three players score in double-figures, led by Alliance Ndiba who led all scorers with 18 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
Colorado Northwestern opened the game with a three-pointer before the Matadors closed the first quarter on a 24-5 run. The Lady Matadors produced another 20-point quarter in the second, outscoring the Spartans by one, 20-19.
Christeina Bryan finished one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 14 points and bringing down nine boards in the win.
Taresa Da Silva scored 11 points while leading the team with three made three-pointers and Buse Utku chipped in with nine points.
The Matadors outscored the Spartans 17-9 in the third quarter, outscoring Colorado Northwestern in all but the fourth quarter on their way to their eighth consecutive win, the Matadors' longest winning streak since a nine-game winning streak in 2013.
The Matadors will continue play in the Bruce Fleck classic Friday afternoon, playing Snow College at 3:00 pm.
