Matadors break century mark in 102-49 win over Chandler-Gilbert

YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Western Matadors (15-1, 5-1) used a strong first quarter to beat Chandler-Gilbert (6-10, 2-5) 102-49 on Wednesday night.
Alliance Ndiba tied her career-high, scoring 27 points to lead all scorers and grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds in a double-double to help the Matadors to their 11th consecutive win.
The Matadors used a 25-0 run in the first quarter to take a 27-3 lead after falling behind 3-2 early in the period as the Matadors ended the first half with 52 points, shooting 63.2 percent from the field.
Tatiana Gary finished the game as the Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring a career-best 13 points off the bench while Kristol Ayson added 11 points off the bench for the Matadors who had a total of 40 bench points in the win.
102 points scored is the most the Matadors have scored in a game this season, topping the previous season-high of 87 points. 102 points are the most points the Matadors have scored since November 6, 2019, when the Matadors scored 100 points in a 100-28 win over Palo Verde.
Taresa Da Silva scored 10 points while Faith Silva ended the game with nine points.
The Matadors hit the road to take on Central Arizona in a matchup of two of the top teams in the ACCAC on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Coolidge, Ariz.
