Arizona Western Moves Into The NJCAA Top 25
YUMA, AZ For the first time this season, the Arizona Western College Matador men's basketball team has made it into the Top 25 National Poll as released by the NJCAA on Tuesday afternoon.
Arizona Western received votes in last week's poll, but were bumped up into the rankings this time around to #22. AWC is currently 12-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
We are pleased to be ranked," said AWC head coach Charles Harral. "I think our team is improving and the ranking is nice, but nothing matters but the end result."
AWC won their lone game last week in Douglas against Cochise College by a final of 85-68 last Wednesday.
The Matadors have been off since last Wednesday to help with the Fisher Automotive El Toro Bowl and to prepare for finals which are taking place this week across the Arizona Western College campus.
The Matadors return to the court this Thursday at Phoenix College, with a scheduled tip time for 7:30pm; following the AWC and Phoenix women's basketball game. Both the AWC women's and men's game can be heard live on the radio at 560 KBLU-AM, with our pre-game coverage getting underway at 5:20pm.
