VB: Parkland Stops AWC Streak

North Las Vegas, NV---The excellent start to Arizona Western Lady Matadors Nevada road trip slowed down at the hands of the #2 Parkland College Cobras (DII-FL) Friday afternoon in a four set loss.

The Mats (8-7) started with the same grit that extended their winning streak to six games and put them at a perfect 3-0 in Nevada, as they fended off the Cobras 25-23 in set one.

But Parkland turned it on in the second set, handing AWC a 25-9 defeat.

The Matadors were plagued by errors from the service line throughout but limited in the third set as they fell behind 2-1 after the Cobras took it 25-18.

The Lady Mats traded jabs throughout the fourth set but ultimately fell 30-28 to stop the winning streak.

Eight service errors compounded 20 attack errors, their most since their season opening trip in New Mexico.

AWC is still above .500 and is looking to wrap up the roadtrip on a high note Saturday with a pair of matches. They start the day with the College of Southern Idaho at 8:00am and wrap up the tournament with #4 Miami-Dade at Noon.

Arizona Western College is one of the top community colleges in Arizona. The college boasts partnerships with all three state universities that include face-to-face classes in Yuma.
