North Las Vegas, NV---After winning the first three matches of the CSN Invitational, the Arizona Western Lady Matadors finished the tournament with three losses concluding with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the #4 Miami-Dade Sharks Saturday afternoon at the CSN Sports Complex.
The Sharks jumped out on AWC early, staking a 1-0 match lead with a 25-15 victory in set one. The Matadors made their push behind Melissa Garciglia Banuelos, who led the team in kills in all six matches in Las Vegas, but still fell in a 2-0 hole after a 25-22 second set.
The Sharks closed out the match 25-20 in set three.
Garciglia Banuelos led the Mats with 14 kills, eclipsing the century mark in the six match tournament with 101 kills.
As a team the Mats .153 percentage for the match continued the trend of three straight losses under .200 as they fall back to 8-9 on the season.
The Matadors will get a couple of days off before finishing up the 8-match roadtrip in Tucson against Pima Wednesday night at 7:00pm. The Lady Mats return home on Friday, September 20th at 7:00pm against Chandler-Gilbert.
