YUMA, Ariz. – Haylee Paladini stayed consistent all week for the Arizona Western College women’s volleyball team, and she helped the team go 2-1 in three matches. Paladini was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Co-Player of the Week.

The sophomore racked up 25 kills and five blocks during the week. AWC swept Phoenix and Pima over the weekend, and Paladini played an important role. She led the team with seven kills against Phoenix before having seven kills against Pima. AWC lost in five tight sets to Yavapai last Wednesday, but Paladini had 11 kills and four blocks.

For the year, Paladini is tied for third on the team with 137 kills and averages 2.14 kills per set. She also is third with 26 blocks. She had a career-high 21 kills in a four-set win over Western Nebraska on September 15, and she has had double digit kills five times this year.

This is the second time that AWC has earned ACCAC Player of the Week this fall. Yenny Montoya Murillo earned the weekly honor on September 24.

AWC (16-5 overall, 8-1 ACCAC) has four matches remaining in the regular season, and the team is in first in the ACCAC. Tomorrow night, the Lady Mats host Eastern Arizona at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are only $5 for adults and $3 for seniors/military. Kids 12 and under and AWC students and staff get in FREE!
