Montaño named NJCAA All-American

YUMA, AZ - Arizona Western Matadors' volleyball player Anny Montaño was named NJCAA Volleyball Second-Team All-American on Wednesday. 

Montaño played in 25 matches for the Matadors and led the team with 266 kills, averaging 3.02 kills per set. The sophomore recorded 14 matches of 10+ kills this past season, tallying a season-high 19 in a 3-1 win over Wallace State Community College-Hanceville. 

The Cali, Colombia native finished the season with 301.5 points, averaging 3.4 points per set. Montaño finished the season with 146 digs and 20 service aces. 

The redshirt freshman was named first-team All-ACCAC and first-team NJCAA Region I, DI All-Region team. Last season, Montaño earned ACCAC Co-Player of the Year honors after leading the conference in service aces with 10 and finishing second in the ACCAC with 207 points and was named First-Team NJCAA All-American.
