VB: Lady Matadors Block Eastern on Sophomore Night

YUMA, Ariz---The block party was in full effect, as the Arizona Western Matadors (9-9 overall, 5-3 ACCAC) used key blocks to stop the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters (2-12 overall, 0-8 ACCAC) on Sophomore Night, Friday at The House.

The Matadors closed out the regular season by taking the final three sets of the four set battle, sweeping Eastern in the four matches throughout the season.

Momentum Runs Out in Loss at Yavapai

PRESCOTT, Ariz---The momentum that the Arizona Western Lady Matadors (8-9 overall, 5-3 ACCAC) had been building in their four straight wins, waned over the final three sets as they fell to the Yavapai RoughRiders (8-5 overall, 7-1 ACCAC) in five sets at Yavapai College Wednesday night.

Momentum propelled the Matadors out in front, as they jumped out to a two-sets to none lead, before Yavapai would turn the tables.

Serve and Block Key Four-Set Win over Pima

YUMA, Ariz---An aggressive serve that tallied 13 aces and a block that bottled up their opponents offense keyed the Arizona Western Matadors (8-8 overall) to a four-set win over the Pima Aztecs (0-3 overall) Friday night at The House.

Pamela Durazo's lethal serve racked up six aces while Mariana Donado was right behind her with five aces as a third of the pair's serves went for immediate Matador points.

Lady Mats Grab 3rd Straight Sweep
