Lady Matadors' volleyball players sign with four-year schools

YUMA, Ariz. – Four Arizona Western College Lady Matadors volleyball players have signed to play at the four-year level next season.
After helping the Lady Matadors to a Region I championship and an appearance in the Southwest B District championship game, Anny Montaño, Pamela Durazo, Naomy Vergez, and Constanza Silva have signed to continue their volleyball careers.

Matador Volleyball Camp to be held August 3-5

YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Lady Matadors' volleyball team will hold their annual Matador Volleyball Camp from August 3rd through the 5th at the AWC main campus gym.
The camp will run from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm each day and will teach volleyball fundamentals such as passing, hitting, serving, setting, blocking, and defensive and offensive systems straight from the Matadors' volleyball coaching staff.

Montaño named NJCAA All-American

YUMA, AZ - Arizona Western Matadors' volleyball player Anny Montaño was named NJCAA Volleyball Second-Team All-American on Wednesday.
Montaño played in 25 matches for the Matadors and led the team with 266 kills, averaging 3.02 kills per set. The sophomore recorded 14 matches of 10+ kills this past season, tallying a season-high 19 in a 3-1 win over Wallace State Community College-Hanceville.

Volleyball falls to New Mexico Military in district final

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (17-8) fell 3-0 to New Mexico Military Institute (30-4) in the Southest District B final in Roswell, N.M. on Tuesday evening.
The Matadors were swept in straight sets by the Broncos, losing the three sets, 25-16, 25-8, and 25-13 as New Mexico Military Institute secured a birth in the NJCAA DI Volleyball National Tournament.

Matadors win Region I Championship

YUMA, Arizona--- The Arizona Western College Matador Volleyball team (17-7 overall, 10-3 ACCAC) clinched the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship in 5 sets against Yavapai College (14-13 overall, 8-5 ACCAC) on Wednesday night at the House.
The Lady Mats will now be advancing to compete in the District Championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The opponent and location for the match are still to be determined.
