Lady Matadors fall in straight sets versus rival Eastern Arizona

THATCHER, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Volleyball team entered Friday night's road contest with ACCAC rival Eastern Arizona trailing by one game in the conference standings. Arizona Western's lone conference loss was to Eastern Arizona at home in "The House" on September 19th. It was a five-set loss to the Gila Monsters in which Arizona Western won the first two sets then dropped the next three sets in a row. Entering Friday night's contest at Guitteau Gym, Arizona Western rode a two-game win streak while Eastern Arizona boasted an eight-game win streak. The Gila Monsters extended their win streak to nine games, defeated Arizona Western in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 27-25). Eastern Arizona improves to 15-6 overall and 7-0 in ACCAC play. Arizona Western falls to 10-4 on the season and 4-2 in conference play. Arizona Western will have a chance to get back in the conference race for the top spot with an afternoon tilt with Eastern Arizona on Saturday. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
