Lady Matadors bounce back with strong tournament finish
After falling to Midland to begin the Dalton Overstreet Invitational, Arizona Western rattles off three straight wins
PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Volleyball team wrapped up the Dalton Overstreet Invitational by winning both matches in straight sets on Saturday. It was a nice rebound for the Lady Matadors after falling in the opening match on Friday to Midland College 3-1.
Arizona Western bounced back after the opening day loss defeating Colorado Northwest Community College in straight sets. The Lady Matadors carried that momentum into Saturday morning with another sweep of Phoenix College and a straight set sweep over Park University in an exhibition match.
"We didn't get the finish we expected against Midland," AWC Head Coach Lorayne Chandler said. "The team bounced back well again Colorado Northwestern. We were able to see a couple different lineups on the weekend and are ready to start conference play next week."
Arizona Western opens conference play on Wednesday, September 10th, when they host College of Southern Nevada at "The House" at 7:00 p.m.
