Lauhingoa named NJCAA DI Volleyball Second Team All-American
Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball sophomore Ma’o Lauhingoa was named an NJCAA DI Volleyball Second Team All-American on Tuesday morning, after leading the Matadors to a second consecutive Rocky Mountain District Championship match.
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball sophomore Ma’o Lauhingoa was named an NJCAA DI Volleyball Second Team All-American on Tuesday morning, after leading the Matadors to a second consecutive Rocky Mountain District Championship match.
Lauhingoa tallied 140 kills in 27 matches as a sophomore this past fall, recording a .293 hitting percentage and averaging 1.41 kills per set.
The outside hitter set a season-high with 11 kills in the Region I final against Eastern Arizona on November 6. Her .293 hitting percentage was good for eighth best in the ACCAC and was honored as a First Team Region I DI All-Region honoree.
Lauhingoa recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs in the Matadors' 3-2 win over Eastern Arizona on October 5.
Lauhingoa becomes the third Matador to earn NJCAA DI Volleyball All-American honors in the past two seasons.
