YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Volleyball head coach Lorayne Chandler was named the Region I DI Volleyball Coach of the Year after leading the Matadors to a regular season conference title and the Region I finals.
The Matadors finished the regular season 17-7, going 9-3 in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed in the Region DI Volleyball tournament.
Arizona Western went on a three-match winning streak to finish up the regular season and opened postseason play with a 3-0 win over Yavapai, extending its set-winning streak to nine.
Chandler's squad led the ACCAC in hitting percentage, posting a .229 hitting percentage, one of just three teams over .200.
The Matadors are looking for their second consecutive Region I title as they host Eastern Arizona in the Region I final on Wednesday, November 6.
