Matadors Volleyball rebounds with 3-1 win over nationally ranked Pima
YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball team (10-5) finished its weekend in Thatcher, Ariz., with a 3-1 non-conference win over the No. 22 ranked team in NJCAA DII, Pima (9-7), on Saturday morning.
Natalia Valencia-Gamboa led the Matadors in kills for a second straight match, finishing the match with 13 while Esther Asiedu had nine.
The Matadors opened the match with a 25-14 win before dropping the second set 26-24. Arizona Western were able to rebound and take the third set 25-14 and finished the Aztecs off with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
Andrea Krgovic and Nehir Erimez each finished the match in double digits in assists with Krgovic leading the way with 14 and Erimez finishing with 13.
Larryn Joseph-Rodrigues led the team in digs with 13 and Rana Yamada finished with 11. Joseph-Rodrigues also had four service aces in the win.
The Matadors are back on the road on Friday, taking on Yavapai on Friday, September 27, at 7:00 pm in Prescott, Ariz., at Walraven Gymnasium.
