Martensson, Lauhingoa sweep ACCAC Player of the Week honors

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Lady Matadors Volleyball freshman Gabriela Martensson and Ma'o Lauhingoa both earned ACCAC DI Player of the Week honors after helping the Lady Matadors to a pair of ACCAC wins last week.

Martensson was named the ACCAC DI Offensive Player of the Week after recording a total of 21 kills in the two wins, doing so in just six total sets. The outside hitter from Colombia tallied 10 kills in a 3-0 win over Phoenix on Wednesday before recording 11 two nights later in a 3-0 win on the road at South Mountain. Martensson put together a .300 hitting percentage in the win over Phoenix and .269 against South Mountain.

Lauhingoa was named the ACCAC DI Defensive Player of the Week after setting a season-high in digs with 17 in the second match of the week against South Mountain to help the Lady Matadors increase their match win streak to six and their set winning streak to 16. In total, Lauhingoa recorded 25 digs in the two matches and a total of six assists, three in each match, setting and tying a season-high.

Martensson and Lauhingoa become the second and third Lady Matadors to earn ACCAC Player of the Week honors, joining Evelyn Trivino who was last week's ACCAC DI Volleyball Player of the Week.
