Arizona Western Volleyball sends seven onto next level

YUMA, Ariz. - Seven Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball players have signed to continue their academic and volleyball careers at the next level.

All-American outside hitter Amanda Juliao has signed with Southern Illinois University after playing in 53 career matches for the Matadors, tallying 596 career kills. As a sophomore, Juliao led the Matadors with a career-best 345 kills, helping the Matadors to a Region I championship. Juliao also set career-highs in digs with 217 and aces with 14. Southern Illinois University is an NCAA DI institution located in Carbondale, Ill. The Salukis compete in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Sophomore setter Evelyn Trivino will continue her career at Nicholls State University. The NJCAA All-American played in 47 career marches for the Matadors in two seasons, setting a career-high with 927 assists as a sophomore in 2023, also setting career bests in digs with 213 and aces with 36. Nicholls State University is an NCAA DI institution located in Thibodaux, La. The Colonels compete in the Southland Conference.

Aly Reeser has signed to play at Felician University after playing in 28 matches this past fall after transferring into Arizona Western from Missouri State University-West Plains. Reeser had a team-high 310 digs with the Matadors, averaging 3.07 digs per set and recording 77 assists to lead the Matadors to a Rocky Mountain District Championship game appearance. Felician University is an NCAA DII institution located in New Jersey. The Golden Falcons compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Sophomore middle blocker Josi Capellan will play at Lincoln Memorial University. Capellan played in 25 matches for the Matadors after transferring to Arizona Western College from Indian River State College. Capellan had 98 kills in 84 sets, recording 58 blocks. Capellan had a career-high nine kills in a 3-2 win over Chandler-Gilbert. Lincoln Memorial University is an NCAA DII institution located in Harrogate, Tenn. The Railsplitters compete in the South Atlantic Conference.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Goodman will play at Talladega College next season after recording 52 kills in 14 matches last season. Goodman came to Arizona Western from Indian River State College and set a career-high with 10 kills in her Arizona Western debut in a 3-2 win over Garden City on August 18. Talladega College is an NAIA institution located in Talladega, Ala. The Tornadoes compete in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

Faith Alvior heads to Westcliff University after spending this past fall at Arizona Western College as a freshman. Alvior did not appear in a game in the 2023 season but was a member of a team that won the 2023 Region I title. Westcliff University is an NAIA institution located in Irvine, Calif. The Warriors compete in the Cal Pac Conference.

Eduarda Freitas de Souza heads to Santa Fe College after playing in 10 career matches with the Matadors as a freshman. Freitas de Souza had 27 kills and 19 digs in 30 sets for the Matadors and had a career-high five kills twice. Santa Fe College is in Gainesville, Fla.
