THATCHER, Ariz. - The #2 ranked Arizona Western women's soccer team scored two early goals and held on to defeat #11 Eastern Arizona 2-0 on Tuesday night at John Mickelson Stadium. Kanon Ozaki scored the first goal at the seven-minute mark, assisted by Fernanda Quiroz to give the Matadors the early lead. Fernanda Quiroz also helped on the second goal of the game, gaining an assist at the 13-minute mark on a goal by Ariana Peraza to give the Matadors a 2-0 lead. Goalkeeper Iyan Hernandez served up another clean sheet, stopping three shots on goal. The win improves Arizona Western to 9-0 on the season and 6-0 in ACCAC play. The Lady Matadors next face Cochise College at Matador Field on Tuesday, October 14th. Match is set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
