YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Women's Soccer player Yui Suetsugu was named the Region I DI Women's Soccer Player of the Year after helping the Matadors win their fourth consecutive Region I championship.

Suetsugu led the Matadors with 19 goals this past season and recorded five assists.  The sophomore put together a pair of four-goal games, scoring four goals in a win over Imperial Valley in the season opener before doing so again in a win at Community Christian in October.

The forward scored three game-winning goals this season, scoring a game-winner in the season-opener over Imperial Valley before netting the game-winning goals in a 3-2 thriller over Cochise. Suetsugu also had the game-winning goal in a 5-0 win at Mohave.
