Women's Soccer holds steady at No. 5 in NJCAA DI Women's Soccer rankings
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Women's Soccer team stayed put at No. 5 in the newest NJCAA DI Women's Soccer rankings after picking up a win over a ranked opponent on Saturday evening.
The Matadors came from two goals down to beat No. 15 ranked Cochise in a battle for first place in the ACCAC by scoring three goals in the final 41 minutes of play.
Cochise scored the second goal of the game in the 49th minute to up its lead to 2-0 before the Matadors opened the scoring on a penalty. After Valeria Ramon leveled the score with a strike off a volley, Yui Suetsugu gave the Matadors the lead in the 87th minute with a penalty.
The Matadors have won six games in a row to start the season and have beaten two consecutive ranked opponents.
