Women's Soccer scores three second-half goals to beat Cochise 3-2

YUMA, Ariz.- The No. 5 ranked Arizona Western Women's Soccer team (6-0, 4-0) scored three second-half goals to come from behind and beat No. 15 ranked Cochise (5-2-1, 2-1), 3-2, on Saturday night at Matadors Soccer Field.

Yui Suetsugu scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute on a penalty, to give the Matadors their third goal of the half and Suetsugu's team-leading sixth goal of the year.

The Matadors fell behind in the 22nd second minute when Cochise scored the game's first goal on a counterattack.

After the break, the Apaches doubled their lead, scoring a goal four minutes into the second half to push the lead to 2-0.

Trailing 2-0 in the 60th minute, the Matadors received a penalty, which Linka Ono beat the keeper to pull the Matadors to within a goal at 2-1. Before the referee blew the whistle for the penalty to be taken, Cochise was assessed a red card, putting the Apaches down a player for the remainder of the match.

Arizona Western leveled the scoreline at 2-2 thanks to a Valeria Ramon strike on a volley from 15 yards out in the 74th minute.

The Matadors are back at home on Tuesday, September 24, hosting College of Southern Nevada at 7:00 pm at Matador Soccer Field.  Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
