Three Lady Matadors earn NJCAA DI Women's Soccer All-American honors
Sophomores Ashly Martinez and Rikako Hayami along with freshman Tindra Biedermann were named to 2023 NJCAA All-American teams for Women's Soccer after helping the Lady Matadors to the program's second every appearance in the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Championships.
Martinez was named a First Team All-American after finishing second in the country in goals with 25 and sixth in the country in points with 56. The forward scored the game-winning goal in the Region I title game, leading the Lady Matadors to a 2-1 win over Eastern Arizona. Martinez was also named the ACCAC Player of the Year.
Hayami was honored as a Second Team All-American thanks to a season in which she anchored a back line that produced 13 shutouts, the third most in the nation. The sophomore defender scored four goals this season and started all but one game for the Lady Matadors. Hayami recorded an assist in a 3-2 win over Cochise on September 9.
Biedermann was named an Honorable Mention All-American after finishing ninth in the country in goals-against average at 0.66 and 10th in the country in goals allowed, giving up just eight goals in 13 games played this season. Bidermann made a season-high six saves in a win over Monroe to help the Lady Matadors advance to the semifinals of the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Championships for the first time in program history.
