Women's Basketball sophomore Rita Gomes inks with Milwaukee
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Women's Basketball sophomore Rita Gomes signed to play at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee next year after scoring 579 career points in two seasons as a Matador.
Gomes averaged 9.8 points per game in 59 career games at Arizona Western. Shooting 37.2 percent from the three-point line, including a career best 40.4 three-point percentage as a sophomore in 2024-25.
The guard was the ACCAC DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the final week of November, averaging 17 points per game in two games, shooting 63.2 percent from the field while hitting nine three-pointers and averaging 2.5 steals per contest to earn her second ACCAC DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of her career.
Gomes set a career high with 32 points in a 76-75 loss to College of Southern Nevada in the Region I semifinals, connecting on 10 three-pointers in 16 attempts.
Milwaukee is an NCAA DI institution located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, competing in the Horizon League. The Panthers are coached by Kyle Rechlicz, who is assisted by former Chandler-Gilbert head coach Fletcher Brown.
