Zonzon-Huyghe named NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Second Team All-American
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Women's Basketball freshman Naomy Zonzon-Huyghe was named an NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Second Team All-American after helping guide the Matadors to the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Championship for the third time in program history.
Zonzon-Huyghe averaged 15.6 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest during her freshman season with the Matadors in 27 games for the ACCAC DI regular season champions.
The guard from La Roche-sur-Yon, France, scored a career-high 29 points in a 54-40 win over Eastern Arizona on January 15 and put together eight games of 20 or more points, including a stretch from December 11-January 4, scoring 22 or more points in four straight games.
Zonzon-Huyghe set a season-high in rebounds with 14 in a loss to College of Southern Nevada in the Region I Semifinals on March 8 and tallied double-digit rebounds in five games this season while grabbing eight or more rebounds 14 times.
Thanks to her performance during her freshman season, Zonzon-Huyghe was a First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region Region I DI honoree and also earned ACCAC DI Player of the Week honors in February.
