Women's Basketball cruises past Jessup University JV to finish weekend with 89-14 win

YUMA, Ariz. - The No. 25 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Women's Basketball team (7-1) finished off the weekend with an 89-14 win over Jessup University JV on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Chapman Automotive Thanksgiving Classic at the House Gymnasium.

The Matadors scored 27 of the first 29 points to open the game, outscoring Jessup 29-2 in the first quarter on their way to their fourth consecutive win.

Arizona Western had four players score in double figures in the win, including three from the bench as the Matadors' bench combined for 52 of the team's 89 points.

Rita Gomes led the Matadors in scoring with 15, hitting five three-pointers while Nyah Hardy added 13 points off the bench.

Both Esther Analjok and Dimitra Manouseli scored 12 points while Isabella Molina finished the game as the team leader in assists with seven and steals with five.

The Matadors are back in action on Saturday, December 7, taking on Yavapai at 2:00 pm at the House Gymnasium. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
