Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball freshman Rita Gomes was named ACCAC DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week after setting a season-high in points and three-pointers made in two Lady Matadors' wins over the weekend.

Gomes tallied 17 points in a win over No. 3 ranked New Mexico in the opening game of the Chapman Automotive Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, November 24, going 6-for-10 from the field and 4-for-7 from the three-point line.

In the second game of the weekend, Gomes scored 16 points and hit four three-pointers for the second consecutive game to help the Lady Matadors finish the weekend with a 63-45 win over Lamar.

The guard from Portugal went 8-for-17 from the three-point line in the two games and grabbed 12 rebounds.
