YUMA, Ariz. - Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Basketball player Kristol Ayson was named the Chapman Automotive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 1-7.

Ayson averaged 17.5 points per game in two games last week, scoring 20 points in a loss to Central Arizona on Wednesday, recording her second consecutive 20-point output a week after setting a new career-high of 24 points against South Mountain. 

The sophomore guard from Tacoma, Wash. finished the week off by scoring 15 points on Saturday, helping the Lady Matadors to a 62-56 win over Chandler-Gilbert on the road. 

Through 14 games this season, Ayson is averaging 15.1 points per game and 2.1 assists per contest.
