Okada guides Lady Matadors to 70-44 win over Roughriders
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Women's Basketball (20-8, 13-8) won its second consecutive game, beating Yavapai (10-17, 7-14) 70-44 behind Lime Okada's career-high 16 points on Monday night at Walraven Gymnasium.
Okada's 16 points included a pair of three-pointers which tied a career-high and helped the Lady Matadors earn their 20th win of the season.
Rosa Revueltas hit an early three to give the lady Matadors a 14-8 lead which started a 13-2 run capped off by back-to-back threes from Okada and Revueltas to end the quarter. Okada knocked down her second three of the game to open the second quarter and push the lead to 30-10. Maddison Zugna hit a hook shot late in the half giving the Lady Matadors a 42-17 lead.
Zugna matched Okada with 16 points while Revueltas was the third Lady Matador to finish in double-figures with 14 points.
The Lady Matadors were held to nine points in the third quarter but were able to hold Yavapai to just eight points, taking a 59-31 lead into the fourth quarter. Yavapai outscored the Lady Matadors 13-11 in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Matadors finish the regular season on Tuesday, February 28, in Glendale, taking on the Gauchos at 7:30 pm.
