Matadors blanked by Grayson 8-0 in NJCAA DI Softball World Series elimination game
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Softball team saw its 2025 season come to an end with an 8-0 loss to Grayson at the NJCAA DI Softball World Series on Tuesday afternoon at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.
Larissa Rueda went 1-for-1 with a double as the Matadors were shut out for a second consecutive game in the elimination game loss to the Vikings.
Grayson scored seven of its eight runs in the first two innings, opening with a pair of runs in the first inning and five runs in the second.
The Matadors loaded the bases in the third inning with no outs but could not scratch across a run.
The Vikings capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning to win the game by run rule.
Alissa Pinon, Natalie Pinon, and Rauni Gallegos all went 1-for-2 in the loss.
