Corral named ACCAC DI Softball Position Player of the Week after big week at the plate

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Softball freshman Krisilyn Corral was named the ACCAC DI Softball Position Player of the Week after hitting three doubles in five games last week, earning her second honor of the season.

Corral went 8-for-16 with three doubles and a triple and drove in a pair of runs as the Matadors went 3-3 in six games against Western Nebraska and College of Southern Nevada last week.

The infielder from El Paso, Texas started the week by going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk as the Matadors won the series finale against Western Nebraska 8-7 on Monday afternoon at Charlie Dine Softball Field.

After going 0-for-3 with an RBI in the series opener with Southern Nevada on Friday, Corral bounced back in game two of the doubleheader to go 4-for-4 with a double and a triple in a 5-3 loss to the Coyotes.

Corral went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the opener of the doubleheader on Saturday in a loss to Southern Nevada.

This week's award was the second earned by Corral this season, earning the conference's Pitcher of the Week award in week four.
