Fréchette named ACCAC DI Softball Position Player of the Week
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western College Matadors Softball freshman Léa Fréchette was named the ACCAC DI Softball Position Player of the Week after leading the Matadors to a sweep of El Paso over the weekend.
Fréchette batted .533 and drove in 16 runs to help the Matadors to four wins over the Tejanas in El Paso, Texas. The outfielder smacked four doubles and homered four times, scoring eight runs in the four wins.
The Mercier, Quebec, Canada native started the weekend by going 1-for-3 with a homer and two runs batted in to help the Matadors to an 11-0 win before going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in a 6-4 in game two on Friday.
Fréchette smashed her second homer of the weekend in a 3-for-4 performance in game three of the series on Saturday morning, doubling twice and hitting a homer while driving in five runs. Fréchette finished the weekend by going 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs while batting in seven runs in a 12-3 win in the series finale.
