Softball runs out of steam in 9-3 loss to Southern Idaho
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors Softball team (1-9) dropped the final game of day two of the Chapman Automotive Great Western Shootout 9-3 to Southern Idaho on Friday evening at Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.
Just like in game one of the day, GiGi Garcia picked up a pair of hits a three-run homer, and a double, leading the Lady Matadors' offense.
Southern Idaho scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead which was answered by Garcia's three-run homer in the second inning to cut the deficit to 4-3.
After seeing their lead cut to one run, Southern Idaho scored five unanswered runs to finish out the game.
The Lady Matadors finish off the Chapman Automotive Great Western Shootout on Saturday afternoon starting with a rematch with Southern Idaho at 11:00 am and a matchup with Utah State Eastern at 1:00 pm.
