Former Matador Ethan Warne named WCC Defender of the year
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Former Arizona Western men's soccer player Ethan Warne was recently named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Defender of the Year. Warne played his collegiate freshman season with Arizona Western in 2021 and helped lead the Matadors to the program's first national champion appearance. Warne was also received ACCAC and Region I First Team honors along with being named as an All-American on the NJCAA DI second team following the 2021 season. In 2022, Warne joined the University of San Diego seeing action in six games as a sophomore with two starts. His junior year (2023) resulted in 17 starts in 18 games and being named to the All-WCC Second Team. In 2024, Warne continued to improve and shine as he started in 20 games, was named to the All-WCC First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team. This past season (2025) as a graduate student, the accolades continued to pile up for Warne as he was named WCC Defender of the Year while helping lead the Toreros to their fourth consecutive WCC title and an NCAA tournament berth.
