YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball sophomore Edwin Suarez was named an NJCAA DI Men's Basketball Third Team All-American after earning ACCAC DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year honors.

Suarez guided the Matadors to a berth in the Region I Championship game for the eighth time in the last nine years.

Suarez was the Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring 13.4 points per game and leading the team in rebounds with 8.7 per game. Suarez was the leading rebounder in ACCAC DI Men's Basketball with 271 rebounds and led the conference in offensive boards with 106.

The forward from Reading, Pa., scored a career-high 25 points in a win over AZ Sol back on Nov. 12 and scored 20+ points in six games this season while grabbing double-digit rebounds in 11 games this season, hauling in a career-high 15 boards in a win over Southern Nevada on January 11 and 13 rebounds in loss to Eastern Arizona in the Region I Final.  

In addition to ACCAC DI Player of the Year honors, Suarez was named an All-ACCAC DI First Team honoree and was an All-Region First Team selection.
