Isaacs tabbed Hoopdirt.com JUCO Coach of the Week
YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western College Head Men's Basketball Coach Kyle Isaacs was named the Hoopdirt.com JUCO Head Coach of the Week after guiding the Matadors to a pair of road wins last week, extending the Matadors' winning streak to a season-best five games.
Isaacs and the Matadors opened the week with a 91-70 win on the road at Central Arizona after trailing for most of the first half. Arizona Western outscored the Vaqueros 54-33 in the second, led by freshman guard Matt Anglo who scored a season-high 30 points in the win.
Arizona Western continued its strong play on the road on Saturday, earning a 73-68 win over College of Southern Nevada in North Las Vegas. Just like in Coolidge, the Matadors found themselves trailing in the first half as the Coyotes opened up a nine-point lead in the first half before the Matadors stormed back, scoring 44 points in the second half and earning its fifth consecutive win, beating the conference leaders Southern Nevada.
The Matadors started their five-game-winning streak with three wins before the holiday break, beating No. 14 ranked Southern Idaho and earning a win over Region IX contender Laramie County.
