Hargrove earns ACCAC Player of the Week honor
YUMA, Ariz. – After scoring 54 points in a pair of Arizona Western Matadors' wins last week, Men's Basketball sophomore Marquis Hargrove was named the ACCAC DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 5-12.
Hargrove scored 27 points in back-to-back games to lead the Matadors to home wins over Central Arizona and Chandler-Gilbert this past week. The Sacramento, Calif. native started the week by going 9-for-15 from the field and hitting a pair of three-pointers to help the Matadors fend off Central Arizona 86-76. Hargrove converted on 7-of-10 from the free throw line to help seal the win and set a new career-high of 27 points.
In the second game of the week, Hargrove matched his career-high with his second straight 27-point performance, tying a season-high with five made three-pointers. Hargrove recorded three steals and for the second straight game, grabbed six rebounds in the win.
Hargrove is averaging a career-best 13.7 points per game through 25 games this season and is shooting 35.8 percent from three while averaging 2.0 steals per game.
