Matadors Baseball sophomores sign to play at four-year schools

YUMA, Ariz. – Six Arizona Western Matadors Baseball sophomores signed to continue their academic and baseball careers at the four-year level after helping the Matadors' baseball program win 72 games over the last two seasons.

Sophomore Nathan Houston will continue his career at Louisiana Tech University after playing in 108 career games at Arizona Western, batting .376 with 27 doubles and 84 runs batted in. The infielder from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, stole 55 career bases in 59 attempts. Houston was a two-time All-ACCAC performer and was named Second Team All-Region as a freshman. Louisiana Tech is an NCAA DI institution located in Ruston, La., competing in Conference USA.

Outfielder Luca Hoerger signed to play at Bellarmine University next season after batting .291 with 19 doubles, five home runs, and 71 runs batted in, in 108 career games with the Matadors. The sophomore from Germany drove in a career-best 38 runs as a sophomore in 2025. Bellarmine is an NCAA DI institution located in Louisville, Ky., competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Bronson Neave has signed to play at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, after a career at Arizona Western that included 100 runs batted in, in 105 career games for the Matadors. The infielder batted .327 and hit 24 doubles and tripled nine times, while hitting all four career home runs as a sophomore in 2025. Neave was a First Team All-ACCAC and Second Team All-Region performer as a sophomore. LSU-Shreveport is an NAIA institution located in Shreveport, La., and is the defending NAIA National Champions.

Oshawa, Ontario, Canada native Mac Robertson heads north to play at North Dakota State University next season. Robertson pitched in 24 career games for the Matadors and struck out 73 batters in 84.0 innings of work. As a freshman last season, Robertson led the ACCAC in wins, winning 10 games, posting a 10-1 record. North Dakota State University is an NCAA DI institution located in Fargo, N.D., competing in the Summit League.

Sophomore Yoni Castro will continue his career at Alcorn State University after appearing in 25 games on the mound for the Matadors in two seasons. Castro tossed 55.1 innings, striking out 57 batters in 55.1 innings of work while striking out 57 batters. Castro struck out a career-best 32 batters as a freshman in 2024. Alcorn State University is an NCAA DI institution located in Lorman, Miss., competing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
