Baseball finishes 2025 season with 6-4 win over Central Arizona
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (35-20, 19-17) wrapped up the 2025 season with a 6-4 win over Central Arizona (37-15, 22-14) on Saturday afternoon, at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.
Bronson Neave doubled and drove in a run, going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks in the Matadors' win over the Vaqueros.
Central Arizona scored two runs in the first three innings to grab the early lead before the Matadors sent 10 batters to the plate in the fourth inning, scoring four runs without recording a hit. Gerardo Castro got the scoring started for the Matadors with an RBI fielder's choice before Kylian Bamberger drew a bases-loaded walk and Nathan Houston drove in a run with a fielder's choice. Neave drove in the final run of the frame with another bases-loaded walk.
After the Vaqueros grabbed a run in the fifth inning, the Matadors added another run in the sixth on an Andres Ontiveros sacrifice fly and then scored the sixth run of the game in the eighth inning when Neave crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Parker Husu reached base three times with a pair of walks and a single. Gregorys Mateo earned the win in the start, and Paul Medina picked up the save for the Matadors.
