Evans tosses complete game shutout in Baseball's 11-0 win over Community Christian

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Baseball team (32-17, 16-14) posted its second consecutive shutout with an 11-0 win in five innings over Community Christian (1-36, 0-34) on Friday afternoon in Palm Springs, Calif., at Palm Springs Stadium.

Diego Evans tossed five shutout innings for the Matadors, striking out nine batters and allowing just three hits in a complete game win.

Luca Hoerger led the Matadors with three runs batted in as the bottom four in the Matadors' order combined to drive in seven of the Matadors' 11 runs in the win.

Javier Diaz and Andres Ontiveros each had two hits in the win, as six of the nine Matadors in the starting lineup recorded hits in the win.

The Matadors scored a run in the second and another in the third to take an early 2-0 lead before scoring nine times in the fourth to pull away.

The series continues on Saturday, April 19, with a doubleheader between the Matadors and Saints at Noon in Palm Springs, Calif., at Palm Springs Stadium.
