Four Matadors named to All-ACCAC and All-Region Baseball teams

YUMA, Ariz., - Arizona Western Matadors Baseball landed four players on the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference's All-ACCAC Baseball teams and the All-Region Division 1 teams, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Robert Miranda was named a First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region selection after finishing the regular season first in the conference in runs scored with 63 and third in the ACCAC in doubles with 19. The sophomore infielder from Miami, Fla., batted .373 for the Matadors this spring, finishing second on the team with seven homeruns while driving in 44 runs.

Sergio DeCello was honored as an Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-ACCAC performer, leading the Matadors in home runs with nine, the fourth most in the ACCAC. DeCello batted .300 with 13 doubles and 43 runs batted in for the Matadors. The sophomore from Hamilton, Ohio, walked 38 times this season, third most in the league.

Mac Robertson earned Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-ACCAC recognition after finishing the regular season tied for the conference lead in wins with 10, posting a 10-1 record with a save in 20 appearances as a freshman. The right-hander from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, struck out 61 batters in 70.2 innings of work.

Nathan Houston was an Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-ACCAC honoree and posted the fifth highest batting average in the ACCAC, batting .391. The freshman infielder from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, played in 51 games, doubling 12 times and recording a triple while driving in 46 runs.

The Matadors open the Region I semifinals at Pima in game one of a best-of-three series on Thursday, May 2, at 2:00 pm.
