YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western baseball (25-12, 18-10) dropped a pair of games to Central Arizona (42-6, 29-3) on Saturday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field, losing game one 9-0 before falling the second game 11-1.

Robert Miranda doubled, going 1-for-3, picking up the Matadors' only hit in a 9-0 loss in game one. Central Arizona scored three runs in the first inning and added four in the third to jump out to a 7-0 lead.

The Matadors put four base runners on in the first two innings but were all left stranded including a pair of runners in scoring position.

Freshman Max Milner made his second appearance of his career, tossing four innings and allowing an earned run in the loss.

Miranda was the bright spot for the Matadors again in game two, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in an 11-1 loss in seven innings.

Central Arizona jumped out of the gates quickly in the first inning of game two, scoring a pair of runs before adding a run in the second.

Central Arizona scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth inning to push their lead to 10-0 before Robert Miranda put the Matadors on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a single to center to cut the Vaqueros' lead to 10-1.

Jared Davis doubled in the loss while Oskar Stark picked up a seventh-inning single. Bobby Lane allowed an unearned run in his lone inning in the seventh.

The Matadors hit the road on Tuesday, heading to Prescott, Ariz., to take on Yavapai in an ACCAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
