Baseball returns home with 12-3 win over Breeze

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Baseball (11-6) scored nine of its 12 runs in the first four innings on the way to a 12-3 win over Asian Breeze on Thursday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.

Robert Miranda picked up three hits, going 3-for-4 with an RBI while Marcus Graham went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs to help the Matadors pick up a non-conference win.

The Matadors scored two runs in the second inning to open the scoring and added four more in the third and three more in the fourth inning to jump out to a 9-1 lead.

After the Breeze scored a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, the Matadors put up a three-spot in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach.

Jared Davis finished the day 2-for-5 with two runs batted in and Tyler Leroy walked three times, scoring three runs in the win.

Jorge Carvajal started the game and tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Andiel Alacantara earned his first win of the season throwing three innings in relief and recording four strikeouts.

The Matadors racked up 15 hits as every Matador in the starting lineup picked up a hit in the win.

The Matadors return to conference play on Tuesday, March 7, hosting Chandler-Gilbert in a doubleheader at Walt Kammann Baseball Field at 12:00 pm.
